TV Presenter and wheelchair user Steve Brown shares his thoughts on his new Omeo

So a couple of weeks ago, I got my first omeo, and I've had a couple of tutorials with the team.

But this is my first time out in it on my own and, you know, for my work… and of course for pleasure… equipment like this is an absolute game changer.

I'm a firm believer that everyone should be able to access our wildlife and get into our countryside as much as possible. But for me, where possible, I think we should be looking at changing our equipment instead of changing the terrain.

And this is a perfect example of that.

The freedom it gives me to be able to get across rough ground and up hills, I would normally need pushing up and getting into places that well, let's face it, my manual chair wouldn't be able to get me to… means that I can enjoy being out here an awful lot more.

It gives me the chance to explore in a much more independent fashion, and it means that I can also go further for longer without any problem at all.

This isn't about not using a manual chair anymore. This is about using the right equipment for the terrain I'm in and it removes so many challenges and gives me so much independence…

…but I really think I'm gonna love it.
